Argentina: Trade relations and foreign policy in a changing global order
The seminar addresses Argentina’s global positioning within an increasingly multipolar world.
Redefining its role as a key player in the global economy, Argentina is leveraging its abundant natural resources, strong agribusiness sector, and well-educated workforce. Following a shift in foreign policy under the Milei administration, the country has opened its economy to the world and established an investment promotion system to unlock its potential, pursuing a strategic alignment with the United States while maintaining pragmatic ties with other regions. The seminar explores these strategic and pragmatic positions and how the recent adoption of the EU-Mercosur Interim Trade Agreement on 1 May, 2026, may impact Argentina’s relations with the EU and its Mercosur neighbors. It also seeks to take stock of the first 100 days of the trade agreement, expected to create one of the largest free trade zones in the world.
The seminar further explores the strengthened relations with the Nordic countries and Argentina’s bilateral cooperation with Denmark, highlighted by the reopening of the Danish Embassy in Buenos Aires, scheduled for November 2026. Everyone is welcome.
