Associate Professor Georg Walter Wink, New Co-Director at HUM:Global
As of the fall semester 2025, Associate Professor Georg Walter Wink joins Assistant Professor Haakon A. Ikonomou as Co-Director of HUM:Global.
It is with enormous pleasure that I join HUM:Global as Co-Director. Having been part of the Professional Project Group from the very beginning, I had the privilege to accompany the unfolding of this urgently needed initiative which now can look back on an impressive record of having brought together UCPH scholars from various disciplinary backgrounds, external experts, students and the general public to focus on core challenges of our times. I feel again privileged to take a coordinating role in the next level of further strengthening HUM:Global’s profile and, above all, institutionalizing this cross-faculty initiative.
Associate Professor Georg Walter Wink brings extensive experience to the directorship. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Copenhagen and a PhD in Latin American Studies from Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Cultural Studies/Latin America at the Department of English, Germanic and Romance Studies (ENGEROM) at the University of Copenhagen.
His leadership roles include Head of the Centre for the Study of Nationalism (since 2024), Coordinator of ILAS – Iberian and Latin American Studies Forum (since 2023), and former Director of the Centre for Latin American Studies (2016–2022).
We warmly welcome Associate Professor Wink to his new role and look forward to the continued growth and impact of HUM:Global under his co-leadership.
